Forest Hedgehog Grass, Echinopogon ovatus, is a perennial which grows to 1.2m high, arising from a slender, often elongated rhizome.
The panicle (the tuft that looks like a hedgehog) is regigly erect, oval shaped, 8-50mm ling, 8-25mm wide (including all the spikes).
Forest Hedgehog Grass grows in wet schelrophyll woodland and by creeks, in a widespread distribution from Qld to Tas, and west to WA. In NSW occurs in coastal forests, over the dividing range and throughout western woodlands.
At Manna Park, Forest Hedgehog Grass occurs along XC track parallel to Ford Creek.
