The Snowy Daisy-bush, Olearia lirata, is in the Asteraceae Family (which includes all daisies). The family characteristic is that there are several tiny flowers making up the yellow center, surrounded by petal-like white ligules.

The stems and undersides of the leaves of the Snowy Daisy-bush have fine whitish hairs (called tomentum), which are soft to the touch. The species is common in sheltered forests near streams, such as this example found at the jtwo fire trails, at map coordinates 59 670, 19 750.
