The genus Correa was named after Jose Francisco Correa de Serra (1750-1823), a Portuguese botanist who published several papers on the plant family Rutaceae. The species name reflexa comes from the Latin word reflexus, which means turned or bent backwards, and refers to the tips of the flowers.
