New Dam

Built in 1991-2 on Tip Creek is our main water storage dam with a capacity of around 100 Megalitres (100,000,000 litres).   This dam has a large catchment but does not receive run-off flows after dry periods unless we have at least100 mm of rain.    Water is taken from New Dam via a large valve below it and either allowed to flow through the gully or via a 50mm pipeline into Duckpond, then into BBQ Dam and finally into Big Dam from where it is pumped around the golf course and to Manna Park.

BBQ Dam

A small dam near the original BBQ shed adjacent to Cabin 11 and the 1st men’s tee.

Big Dam

Built in 1984, originally designed as the main water supply for the cabins and resort, it is the centre of our “swamp” water system and has a capacity of about 50 Megalitres but we try to keep it attractively full for the water golf and paddle boats.

Corner Dam

Just beyond the 2nd green; it is not really a dam, it was built to create a crossing of a muddy gully.

All of the dams can contain eels, we have introduced Australian bass and red belly perch into Big Dam and BBQ Dam.    All of the yabbies that we have tried to introduce into the dams have been eaten by eels and cormorants.

The water in the dams is usually stained brown by leaf letter and iron leaching from the catchment but they are otherwise “clean”.
