Bournda

Bournda was the original name for the locality around Mandeni Park.   The parish is still called Bournda.    There is no generally accepted name for our area now so we use “Mandeni”.   “Bournda” now refers to the area about 6 km north along Sapphire Coast Drive around Wallagoot Lake and is actually in the parish of “Wallagoot”.

Bournda Nature Reserve

This is a very large area surrounding Manna Park, especially to the north west.   This is managed by NP&WS who do not encourage visitors, they want to keep the area as an isolated nature reserve; they have no plans to do much with it, it is a major potential bush fire hazard to Manna Park.

Bournda National Park

Bournda National Park has two sections – the southern section is accessed via Widgeram Road to the north east of Mandeni, the northern area surrounds Wallagoot Lake which is approximately 6 km north along Sapphire Coast Drive and includes Bournda Environment Centre a training centre run by NSW Education Department.

Bournda Downs

A privately owned grazing property on the western side of Sapphire Coast Drive and includes a road base quarry that has supplied most of the road base used at Manna Park.
