These Bracket Fungi, Ganoderma applanatum, were seen growing on a fallen Black Wattle, Acacia mearnsii, at GDA95 coordinates 07 58 324, 59 19 123.

A distinctive feature is the rings seen near the rim, which are growth rings that can indicate the age of the fungi. Because growth occurs in rainy periods, these are not necessarily produced annually. This type of fungi is a Polypore, which can be seen if look underneath the white material has multiple holes.

This Bracket Fungi occurs on living or dead trees in forests, and can cause a white heart-rot.
