The Eastern Common Froglet, Crinia signifera, is a common and widespread species in Eastern Australia. It is a small, ground-dwelling frog, found under logs and other debris, usually in a moist ditch or near water. The one photographed here was under leaves in the side of the dam, then it dived into the water and hid under leaves thee. Using along stick the leaves were gently lifted to reveal the frog, which stayed still, under the water.
The Froglet has a cricket-like chirping call, which can be heard all day and all year round, especially before and after rain.
The photograph shows a frog under the water in the dam at Manna Park, at map coordinates 58 100, 18 850.
