The Agile Antechinus, Antechinus agilis, occurrs throughout the Manna Park and Mandeni. They live in forests with dense understorey, occupying hollow logs. They are carnivorous, eating mostly insects, so have sharp jagged teeth rather than the large opposing incisors of a grain eating mouse or rat.

All Antechinus species are about the same size, with a head and body 8-14cm, Tail 9cm. The Agile Antechinus has light grey fur, and tail same length as body, distinguished from the Dusky Antechinus which have chocolate brown fur, and a tail shorter than the body. A key physiological difference between Agile Antechinus and the Dusky Antechinus, is that the Dusky carry their young in a pouch, and the Agile do not.

The Brown Antechinus appears identical to the Agile Antehcinus, but was found to have genetic differences. The southern limit of the Brown Antechinus is thought to be near Kioloa, 200km north of Manna Park and Mandeni.
