The Brown Cuckoo-dove, Macropygia amboinensis, is a type of pigeon, common in rainforests along Australia’s east coast. According to Barbara Jones, Far South Coast Birdwatchers Inc, “There are resident populations at several Kalaru sites, Bournda, Pambula, Bega, Nethercote, Millingandi, Berrambool and Eden.” The examples photographed were found adjacent to Manna Park Hostel, where they fed on Kurrawang seeds and sought refuge in Hickory Wattles trees.
